When covid-19 struck us in 2020 we all thought it is about lungs. Couple of years later when it left us we knew it wasn't just about lungs.
It was about sanity more than anything. All of us faced circumstances which were alien to us. As a result we all behaved , sometimes, in a manner we wouldn't do in a normal course
This resulted in wreckage of several homes, relations, chronic alcoholism, substance abuse, suicides, heart attacks and deaths.
What about those who survived all of it and as a result went into depression because others around them couldn't understand them and were alienated from society? Look around and I guarantee you every 5th person in your friends circle will be undergoing some form of depression.
While there exists good mental support mechanisms at professional level offered by capable and qualified people(lol) a little bit of motivation goes a long way to get rid of depression the much more easier way( depending on how one looks at it)
Medical science has us believing that depression is a medical condition as a way to peddle more drugs into our system. Any physician doesn't hesitate in prescribing diazopem at the first mention of the word depression.
First of all stop looking at depression like a medical condition. Look at depression as an experience, a tough one , figuring out of which is a difficult job. For life to become better one needs to conquer difficult phases.
Till as a time you don't feel pain in life you will not get true peace in life. You will not appreciate what you have in life.
I truly believe until a person breaks he will not prosper. One needs to see the lows of life to appreciate the highs in life.
See life as a journey on a state high way full of dust and cracks and holes which will put moon to shame. Imagine the feeling when you cross that road and get on to a brand new 6-lane national high way. Have you felt the relief ? Have you felt the hope?
Same with depression. Once you cross the phase you will appreciate life.
Why will anyone care for you if you don't care for yourself? So before you lit up the next smoke, reach for the next glass of alcohol, puncture your veins for yet another high, stop and think about this.
Hit the gym, lift heavy iron, go for a run, enjoy the cool breeze blowing across your sweety forehead, pick up a racket and serve up some volleys , kick that football with some Magnus effect, give that red ball a whack , get the same high in way that your body loves you .
Put on your headphones, find a quiet corner, a jungle even better, meditate. Start with 5 minutes. Grow up to 1 , 2 hours of stillness, of the mind and you will emerge a stronger and wiser and more loveable self at the other end of whatever is eating you up from the inside.
Remember YOU are a wonderful specimen God created for a purpose.
It is on you to find and live that purpose.
What is happening around you is merely his games to find out what you are really made up of.
So tell me are you ready to conquer it by yourself?
If not good luck shrinking!
May your stock always rise!
Note: I don't believe in the medical profession of psychiatry. I respect anyone else who might feel differently.
Whatever floats your boat!
