Modesty is overrated

Progress is not made by democratic groups sitting in room. It is almost always by individuals who dare to stand apart. In our workplaces and in general in society modesty is considered a virtue. This works great as long as you are not seeking creativity and excellence.

I think part of creating a culture of excellence is about creating and environment where people can put forward their best ideas. All opinions are not of equal value. Most opinions will not have substance and should be disposed with as soon as possible so that the best ones can come to surface.

Without being a pain in the neck how can one pursue excellence despite the insults and criticism that comes our way. This is essentially the mantra ..be excellent be the best briliant self you can be.

Be aware that criticism of your excellence is always a reflection of the other person than of you.

So if you know what you are talking about don't be modest. Be excellent have scant regards for the nay sayers as it is very easy to be ordinary.

You are anything but ordinary.
